Social Media Event Promotion

Have an annual community event or festival? I’d love to help you create an effective campaign to hit all your goals leading up to and during the event. I’ve worked with nonprofits, committees, and board of directors, as well as small to medium-sized businesses on crafting the perfect message and strategy to get the maximum impact. Event planning is a job itself.

I created this service to help lift some of the weight so you can focus on the event itself. The types of events where I do my best work are music & art festivals, food festivals and fitness related events. Not only is it important to promote the event in the months leading up to it, but it’s important to capture it during and have a plan in place for post-event marketing. Since launching this service in 2019, I've learned what works, what doesn't when it comes to building engagement with your target audience. I've also created some add-on services in the event marketing world.

Most of the events I help promote are located in Washington. My family and I lived there from 2016-2020. When we were stationed there, I absolutely fell in love with the area, the people, the energy, basically everything. So I've picked up more and more events so I can keep coming back. Currently, we live in Northeast Florida and I'm just starting to pick up some local events here.

  • Events 1-4 days in length
  • Events focused on Music/Art, Food, and Fitness
  • Events that draw between 1,000 - 20,000 attendees

Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts

Juan de Fuca Festival

I've covered the Juan de Fuca Festival for many years. I work alongside the planning team and team of volunteers to help promote the event before, during and after. This past year Juan de Fuca Foundation (JFFA) celebrate their 30th Juan de Fuca Festival and I felt honored to be a part of it. Three days, over 70 performances spread out on five different stages. Included an Artisan Street Fair and Food Trucks as well. I walked a literal marathon in 3 days and had so much fun capturing this amazing festival. I saw and documented every performance, spoke with and promoted every artisan vendor (40+), was able to help with event logistics and customer service throughout festival weekend as well.

Generated close to 1000 images and videos throughout the 3 days, was able to reach close to 600,000 people throughout the promotion and marketing of the event and helped increase ticket sales to a record number sold. Since I saw every performance on each stage, I was able to provide the Festival organizers with a detailed report of the 'wins' of the festival as well as identify areas of improvement for future festivals.

Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival

The Dungeness Crab Festival (formally Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival)

I've helped promote the CrabFest since 2021, I work alongside the Executive Director leading up to the event with promotion starting 10 months out as this event draws thousands from all over the country and Canada. The festival is three days and is a celebration of the Dungeness Crab and local Olympic Peninsula seafood. Along with delicious food, the CrabFest also has live music, artisan vendors, food trucks, a race, kids activities, family fun and more! This event is an established event on the waterfront in Port Angeles, Washington. I jumped on board in their 20th year in 2021, with a dialed back festival with Covid-19 precautions and state mandates. In 2022, the CrabFest was back in full force and drew record crowds and beautiful weather.

Although the CrabFest is free to attend, my main goal was to increase ticket sales for crab dinners in advance. The goal my first year in 2021 was 2000 crab dinners preordered before the event and met it. In 2022 the goal was 4000 crab dinners and I met that. Was also able to help increase attendance, assist with festival logistics and customer service during the 3-day festival. Throughout the festival I shared posts, stories and reels as well as reshared user-generated content which increase reach and engagement both online and offline. The online reach for just the week of CrabFest alone was over 500,000 people. I was able to capture close to 1000 images and videos to hand over to the event organizers to use for marketing.

North Olympic Discovery Marathon

North Olympic Discovery Marathon

I've been helping promote the North Olympic Discovery Marathon (NODM) and the Run the Peninsula Race Series (RTP) for a few years now, but in 2023 I had the opportunity to cover race weekend in person! NODM weekend is two days featuring several races - 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, Marathon Relay, Marathon Walk and a Kid's Marathon. All races are held on the Olympic Discovery Trail in on the North Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. All events raise funds for the Olympic Discovery Trail. My efforts have increase reach and engagement online and increased registrations. There is a virtual option for all the races throughout the year. The virtual race series started during the pandemic in hopes to inspire people to get outside and run or walk.

I was at the starting line for each race on both days. I could feel the anticipation and nervousness in the air as the runners prepared to take on this challenge. The weather was perfect which helped a TON! I traveled along the race course capturing photos and videos along the way of different runners making their way to the finish line. Each time either NODM or RTP were mentioned or tagged in content, I reshared which increased the engagement both online and offline. Was able to provide the race director with close to 1000 images and videos of race weekend, the course, and the afterparty - which was a TON of fun. In the months leading up to the race, the first weekend in June, my efforts helped reach close to 750,000 people across social media. My goal throughout the year is to keep engagement consistent and extend reach which leads to increased registrations.

Tour de Lavender

Tour de Lavender

I've been helping promote this event for 5 years, was the first event I picked up for social media management. This is a cycling event in Sequim, Washington and a fundraiser for the Olympic Discovery Trail. I create and share content based on the planning team's goals, interact as Tour de Lavender responding to comments, messages and questions, create and monitor ads, as well as share any user-generated content where TdL is tagged or mentioned. I've helped increase reach, engagement and registrations throughout the years which has helped raise much needed funds to maintain the ODT. The 2023 registrations were the most they have ever had! I was happy to cover this event in 2024, captured a ton of photos and videos and was able to present the event organizers with a detailed feedback report along with ideas for future events.

The Big Hurt

The Big Hurt & The Little Hurt

I've been helping promote  The Big Hurt for 3 years now. The Big Hurt is a multisport race on the North Olympic Peninsula. It consists of 4-legs: Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Road Biking, and Running. I work alongside the planning team and other creatives in showcasing the details about the race, the course, and the area. The event has been around since 1999, and I am more than excited to be there this year to capture all the fun. The first year, I jumped on board with 3 months until the event. In 2023, we started promoting the event 9-10 months out in hopes of increasing registrations and it worked. We had more signups than ever! I was also able to be on site and capture all the fun on both days - The Big Hurt & The Little Hurt. Because of the large turnout, for 2024 event organizers put a cap on registrations. I'll be back again this year!

Event Marketing From Afar

If I could attend every event, festival, race I promote I definitely would. But what I can do is help get the word out leading up to, during, and post event from wherever.  My goal is to eventually attend and cover each one of these events in the near future.

Run the Peninsula Race Series

Run the Peninsula Race Series

The RTP Race Series consists of five races throughout the year, all along the Olympic Discovery Trail. I was brought on to help increase registrations in both the in-person races and the virtual race series. The virtual race series was launched in 2020 in hopes to encourage people to get outside in the fresh air and run/walk. I create content, work alongside other creatives who are local to the area, establish goals with the race team, create and monitor ads and share user-generated content from runners. From time to time I also facilitate online contests and giveaways to help boost following, reach and engagement.

NorthWest Tandem Rally

Northwest Tandem Rally

Frosty Moss Relay

Frosty Moss Relay

This year, 2023, was the first year I helped promote the Frosty Moss Relay. It's a relay race on the North Olympic Peninsula held in February. This year's race had to be rescheduled due to snow, which happens sometimes. I worked alongside the planning team in creating and sharing content, creating and monitoring ads, interacting with online community, building followers, reach and registrations.
